UpScale Quantum Solutions is a spin-off from the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo in Canada.
UpScale leverages its privileged access to the cutting-edge advanced research infrastructure established in Waterloo over the last decades. This infrastructure comprises equipment for fabricating and characterizing quantum materials, building and testing quantum devices, and simulating their properties using large-scale programmable quantum simulators.
A critical asset is the Rydberg Atom Array programmable quantum simulator. This quantum simulator is a gaming-changing tool that provides users with a new approach to gaining insights into condensed matter physics and quantum many-body systems. It is based on individually addressing hundreds of individual atoms in a two-dimensional array of optical traps in which they can be individually displaced, controlled, and readout. The system enables performing a sequence of single and two-atom gates to prepare and study exotic states of matter found in quantum materials.
This scientific apparatus can simultaneously be operated as digital quantum processors, analog quantum simulators, and quantum sensing and metrological devices such as atomic optical clocks. These different applications are grounded in the same operating principles, so that the techniques developed for one application benefits the others.
